From 8 Years in Banking to Conquering the Asian Poker Scene.

Eight years working in banking. 13 international poker tours in 2025 alone. And one decision that sent Gemmy down an entirely different path.

Someone once asked Gemmy: "What makes you take poker this seriously?"

Maybe the answer lives in how Gemmy responds to every loss. When she loses, she does not stop at "Why did I lose?" She keeps asking, "What do I need to do to win?"

Poker found Gemmy through a casual game night with friends. But the more she learned, the more she realized this is a game you can never fully master. There is always a new strategy to study, a new limit to push past, and a better version of yourself waiting to be found.

That curiosity is what pulled Gemmy away from her banking career and into tournament poker, eventually turning her into a full-time poker content creator.

13 international tours in one year

In 2025, Gemmy played 13 international poker tours, averaging at least one 10-15 day trip a month.

When she is not at a live festival, Gemmy writes scripts, produces videos, translates international poker knowledge into Vietnamese, and keeps up her physical training. Professional poker is not only about decisions at the table. It also demands focus, endurance, discipline, and emotional control over long hours.

Milestones worth remembering

At APT Manila Classic 2025, Gemmy won the influencer event Beat the Pro, earning a Main Event seat and going as deep as 15th place while still early in her formal poker study.

Another highlight was making the final table and finishing 8th at Philippine Poker Million 2025 as an invited guest.

Those results are not the destination. But for Gemmy, they prove that stepping outside your comfort zone and committing seriously to your choice can take you further than you thought possible.

Being a woman in the poker community

In a community still dominated by men, women are sometimes noticed for their looks before their effort and skill are recognized. Some even assume a woman at the poker table is only there for attention or image.

But stereotypes are not something you change with a few words. Gemmy believes the most convincing answer lies in seriousness, knowledge, results, and the positive value she brings to the community over time.

Gemmy also does not play at the cost of her health. After two straight days at the tables, she usually takes a rest day to recover physically and mentally. To go the distance with poker, you first have to understand and respect your own limits.

A dream for a new generation of Vietnamese women in poker

Vietnamese women are not short on ability to play poker. What is missing is the right environment to learn, practice, and confidently step into the community. That is why Gemmy started hosting free poker workshops for women.

Gemmy's dream is to build a strong Vietnamese women's poker team that can compete internationally together, while discovering and mentoring new faces who want to become poker content creators.

What comes next: WPT Seoul 2026

From October 30 to November 9, 2026, Gemmy will officially partner with WPT Seoul 2026 at INSPIRE Entertainment Resort, Incheon, South Korea.

Through this partnership, Gemmy hopes to become a bridge between WPT Seoul and the Vietnamese poker community, and to bring workshop graduates along to experience and compete on an international stage.

From a woman with eight years in banking to a poker player, vlogger, and community builder - the road has certainly not been easy.

But Gemmy believes: it does not matter where you start. What matters is whether you are serious enough to keep following the path you chose.
